Technology

The outbreak of COVID-19 in 2020 prompted lasting changes in how U.S. religious groups use technology in Congregational life. United UUC, in response, has shown remarkable adaptability, using a mixture of technology to bring Sunday services and special events to the broadest audience possible.

Sunday mornings at United offer music and comfort and challenge us to live with goodness and delight all week. Google Slides are projected onto the front wall using a projector for easy viewing, and the worship leaders use microphones for clear understanding. Our soundboard helps convey that sound for all of YouTube to hear.

For those unable to attend in person, we offer live-streaming of our services through our YouTube Channel. These weekly videos are archived, ensuring everyone can catch up or review past services regardless of schedule. Remember to click the subscribe button so you never miss a future service.

This accessibility is made possible with the permission to stream the music in this service, which we obtain from ONELICENSE, License # A-741176, and CCS WORSHIPcast, License #WCL13648. We ensure that all our streaming activities comply with copyright laws and respect the rights of the artists and creators.  All rights reserved. ©

To improve our inclusiveness for people who cannot always attend meetings in person, we have begun to use Zoom for some of our meetings.  Zoom allows us to set up a meeting when you can't get everyone together in person and will enable you to share your screen, show PowerPoint presentations or videos, or see participants' faces via webcams. It helps us gather diverse voices while allowing all voices to be heard, fostering a sense of engagement and connection.

Our website, powered by Squarespace, is not just a platform for sharing information. It's a dynamic space where our church employees and lay volunteers can interact with others in the community, share updates, and facilitate communication. We encourage you to visit our website regularly to stay connected and engage with our vibrant community.
